Maintenance of O-ring mechanical seals

Dec 19, 2024

The maintenance of O-ring mechanical seals mainly includes the following aspects:

Clean and inspect the sealing end face: Clean the sealing end face regularly to ensure that there is no scale and impurities. If the sealing end face is severely worn or damaged, it needs to be replaced in time.

Inspect and replace O-rings: During maintenance, check whether all O-rings are deformed or damaged, and replace them if necessary. During installation, you can apply sealing medium to the groove and O-ring to ensure that the O-ring is not twisted during installation.

Maintain compression springs: Clean compression springs, replace springs that are bent or lose elasticity, and ensure that their lengths are consistent to ensure the sealing effect.

Storage conditions: O-rings should be stored in an environment with a temperature of 5-25℃, avoid direct sunlight and high temperature heat sources to prevent aging. Humidity should be kept below 70%, and avoid humid or dry environments.

Select appropriate O-ring materials: Select appropriate O-ring materials according to the use environment. For example, nitrile rubber is suitable for industrial production and daily maintenance due to its excellent oil resistance and wear resistance, while fluororubber is suitable for sealing needs under extreme conditions due to its high temperature resistance and chemical stability.
